PREPARATION FOR WORK. There are two basic methods of definition of exposure or a diaphragm with the help of light meter: 1. A method of reflected light (on brightness of object), at which the light meter measures light which is reflected by object of shooting into the camera. At definition of conditions of exhibiting a window of light meter is necessary to direct from a place of shooting on shooting object. Readout of indications thus is made on the first or second range of measurements without a nozzle. 2. A method of falling light (on light exposure of object) at which the light meter measures light falling on shooting object. At definition of conditions of exhibiting it is necessary to direct from the location of shooting object on the camera. Readout of indications thus is made on the first or second range of measurements with dressed on window of light meter a nozzle, or on the third range of measurements - without a nozzle with the put forward photo cell.
THE OPERATING PROCEDURE. 1. Establish the size of a photosensitivity of a photographic material in terms of GOST (or ASA) or in degrees of DIN by moving a rod-like. 2. Depending on the chosen method of definition of conditions of exhibiting direct of light meter or on shooting object, or on the camera. If the rejection of an arrow on a scale of a measuring instrument will not reach a point "12", the button of switching of ranges of measurements should be removed «from yourself» till the stop and thus to proceed on more sensitive (first range). If you selected definition of conditions of exhibiting by a method of falling light appears, that because of insufficient illumination the arrow will not reach a mark "5" it is necessary to remove a nozzle from a window, to put forward a photo cell, move the button of promotion of a photo cell “from yourself” till the stop and to make readout of indications on a scale of the third range of measurements. 3. Turn the ring for establishing an auxiliary scale in the same position concerning the motionless index with what the arrow occupies on a scale of a measuring instrument. 4. Read exposure against the chosen value of a diaphragm or, on the contrary, a diaphragm against the chosen value of exposure.
